"Closer and closer we got, hurtling through space in a matter of seconds, rapidly approaching the second hottest planet in the solar system....." - Jeremy

We had such an amazing time up in space, visiting each of the planets and even encountering a meteor!

Today I'm sharing a cute snap of us on the tennis court, one of his favourite places to be as he goes mad for all the tennis balls! lol

Share a pic or tag us in one of your faithful companion and tell us what they do that makes them so adorable.

Copy Cuts

6/1/2023

Not everything makes the final cut in the book production process.

Hey everyone, Author Amy posting today...

Now, because I tend to stick writing shorter, children's fiction books, I have a fairly standard word count goal that I take into account when writing, and aim to fit my main story point into those parameters. So all in all, whilst I obviously have the story checked for spelling and grammar issues, I don't tend to need to cut out much, if any of the plot.

However, the illustrations are an entirely different manner.

I am somewhat of a perfectionist and have been known to draw the same illustrations many, many times over, because I wasn't pleased with how they came out and deemed them "not good enough" to go in to the book, so there are a lot of canned sketches that never saw the light of day again.

If the angles are wrong, or the proportions are off, if the shape of the characters head makes him look somewhat deformed, they will be redone until I am satisfied.

The images in the graphic are just a few examples of sketches that went hideously wrong lol.

National Science Fiction Day - To Boldy go!

2/1/2023

NATIONAL SCIENCE FICTION DAY 2023

National Science Fiction Day promotes the celebration of science fiction as a genre, its creators, history, and various media, too. On January 2nd annually, millions of science fiction fans around the world, read and watch their favourites in science fiction.

I would argue that Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator comes under the category of science fiction.

Last seen flying through the sky in a giant elevator in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie Bucket's back for another adventure. When the giant elevator picks up speed, Charlie, Willy Wonka, and his grandparents are sent hurtling through space and time.

Space and time = science, therefore, I'm claiming the book as sci-fi.

The fact that Roald Dahl is one of my all time favourite children's authors, has absolutely nothing to do with it :D

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy probably comes in as a close second.

What is YOUR favourite sci fi book?
